Below is a collection of projects, art and photography that showcase my diversity as a graphic artist.
This is a collection of logos that I have created. Some are hand rendered using technical drawing pens (black and white), and others are created digitally using Adobe Illustrator.
On this page, I have projects and illustrations that I completed in Adobe Illustrator. Some are illustrations and some are technical drawings.

This page highlights my digital imaging skills. All images on this page have been manipulated using Adobe Photoshop. I especially like to use Photoshop to enhance and re-touch photographs, but sometimes you can also create a composition using different components to create a certain image. This technique is used in advertising.
This image was being used on a coffee mug. The customer did not have an image with a clear sky from this angle so they asked me to fix the sky. I used a simple gradient to create the illusion of a clear sky with a layer filter selection.
This was not a difficult project for me, but I like to look at George Clooney as much as possible, so included it. I replaced the image of Chiwetel Umeadi Ejiofor, CBE, an English actor with an image of American actor George Clooney. I located a high resolution image of the actor that reflected the style and image of the magazine, and replaced the subtitle with his name. I bet you can't tell it's a fake!
This ad concept is created using Adobe Photoshop to wrap the Folgers package around other coffee choices-such as the take out cup. Other ads included the Keurig cup and a coffee maker-both with the Folgers package wrapped around the object. The background image was illustrated in Adobe Photoshop and is basically the elements of the product package with the arched banner at the top catching the consumer's attention with a question. This advertisement could also be created in green tones for the decaffeinated coffee crystals for a complete ad campaign.
This is one book jacket I created for a ficticious book/author. The cover image is a composite of photos that I photographed at Winnikenni Castle in Haverhill, MA. It was a cold snowy day, so I decided to make my story a mystery. "The Castle in Her Mind" is my title, and synopsis put my creative writing skills to work. I took my photos using the delay timer on the camera.
This is one of my best digital images. I was directed to place myself in several travel destinations that I would like to visit. I found this image of an alley lined with scooters in Italy on the internet. I loved the image and decided I would try to put myself in the shot. I took over 300 images of myself in several outfits and poses, then matched up the best pose with the background images. I think I outdid some of my requirements in this project as it was a basic digital photography course, but I say, if you got it, then flaunt it! I spent several hours just getting the windshield to ovelay my arm.
This is another image in which I placed myself into a background image, as directed in my basic digital photgraphy class at Salem State University. When I was 8 years old, I was looking at pictures in National Geographic magazine and saw the Taj Mahal for the first time. I was enthralled with the mausoleum and thought it was a castle. That was when I realized I wanted to be a photo journalist. Although that dream did not materialize, I did get the chance to place myself in this image with the Taj Mahal behind me. I found the background image on an internet search, then took several photographs of myself with correct lighting to match the background. I really like how this turned out and every time I see it, it reminds me of when I I was a child dreaming of far away places and the people that live there.
Print ads are one of my favorite things to design. I've included a few here that were created for school projects. The concept for the Apple iPhone 6 was to market the product to people ages 45-70. Market research shows that Baby Boomers like to see images of people, not tech devices, so I designed the ads with engaging photos of people enjoying the phone and all the wonderful apps. Apple's tag line is "Think Different" which is geared toward the working population, so I changed it to "Live Different" for this ad campaign to drive home the idea that your life will be different once you get your hands on an iPhone.
Brand Identity includes everything from creating a logo to designing a website and everything in between. This is an example of brand identity and includes several components including store signage, logo, package design and website design. I even created an animated logo for use on their website with the orange leaf floating up-rotating, then floats down to it's original position. This was a lot of work, but exactly what I would love to do all the time.
I decided to update the identity of a popular spa and athletic club near my home. I found the home page to be very beige and the floating pictures of strange objects unclear as to why they are there or what they symbolize. There is no definite identity here and it did not seem very soothing or revitalizing as I would expect from a spa. So, what does a graphic designer do? Change it so it is one cohesive and clearly identifiable entity as the pages that follow show.
Elated is a hand rendered font that I designed. I created it from the Finesse Shampoo bottle. I liked that it had a leaf for the cross bar in the F, so I decided to created an elegant but modern looking sans serif font. One great use for this font is on greeting cards, as shown on the example next to the font.
This is a collection of product packaging reinventions that I created. Product packaging is very complicated and requires many hours of research and revisions until it is finally approved and ready to be produced and put out on store shelves.
This is a small collection of photography. I am a landscape photographer by nature, but I am also a commercial photographer specializing in product photography. I use a Nikon D80 SLR digital camera. I like to get up close to nature so you will see that I love macro photography.
This is a collection of art pieces of different mediums. I especially enjoy creating monoprints, of which I have some displayed. I created these using different methods like collage and transfers.
This is one of my first pastel drawings. I love the movement in the background and the colors. This is how I imagined it would look if you focused on just one flower in a large bunch.
Pastel drawing
This monoprint was created using the transfer method. I inked the background in pink/purple/black gradient then reversed my photograph then printed in black and white on a laser printer. Then I put the photograph upside down on my background and painted on citrisolve cleaning solution until the paper was wet. Then the paper and the inked background were put through the press and the transfer was removed. The result is a great silouette of the church steeple and rooftops in Newburyport, Massachusetts. I purposely used the sunset colors as this is an artistic representation of the photo I took at Dusk. This is one of my favorite art pieces.
This is a monoprint created using the stencil approach. I found man-made materials and used them to block the paper as I inked the blue background. Then the white areas were "painted" with ink and re-passed through the press. The man-made materials appear to be organic objects on the finished print.
This is a ghost monoprint created using the same screen that I used to create Bending WithThe Breeze. The result is a lighter print that is almost the opposite of the original. Since there is little ink left on the template after passing through the press, it gives a "ghost" effect and can be done multiple times until the ink is dry or is completely absorbed into the paper. I like both results. Do you have a faorite?
This abstract monoprint was created using stencil approach. I inked the background in a red/orange/yellow gradient, then began pasting scraps of Japanese rice paper to the background. Once completed, I ran it through the press and the end result is a totally flat print. The press smashes the papers together so you cannot see the top pieces. I designed this to look like the large spot lghts you would see at a Hollywood premiere.
This monoprint is especially significant to me because it is a photo from my Aunt's barn in North Conway. She wanted to have antique sales in the big red barn, but was never able to get it going, but after she had passed and it was being cleaned out, I caught this grouping of discarded objects and her little barn sale sign. I thought this was a great Americana/nostalgia shot so I used it for a transfer method monoprint and kept the brown tones to match the iterior of the barn.
In keeping with my love of photography, I made another monoprint from a favorite photo of a fountain. I loved the way the drops were moving out and hitting the pool of water below so I shot up close and transferred the black and white image onto a pale blue ink background. It reminds me of the beautiful summer day my sisters & I spent in Portsmouth, NH.
This is a techno CD cover that I created by making a monoprint image of the car and buildings, then added colored pencil to bring out details of the image and give it life and movement to match the techno beat and pulse of the cityscape.
